Swedish Medical Center Addiction Recovery Services
For patients who are addicted to alcohol or drugs, detoxification may be the first step in treatment. An experienced team of physicians, nurses and counselors supervises and assists patients in our detoxification unit at Swedish Ballard. Detoxification services are carefully integrated with basic medical care and specialize in opiate or sedative/hypnotic medications and street drugs. The process varies from individual to individual, but for most patients, major withdrawal symptoms disappear within three to four days. After detoxification, patients who need further inpatient treatment are referred to appropriate programs.
